ABC Wine Club

The ABC Wine Club is an excellent opportunity to explore the world of wine. Each month we select an outstanding red and white for our members, who pay just $25 for the pair. In many cases that price is well below the normal retail price. And if you subscribe for a year, you get one month absolutely free! That’s a terrific offer, especially since these wines are handpicked by our wine experts for quality and outstanding value. In addition, wine club members may purchase either of the wines by the case at 15% off the regular price during the month in which the wines are featured selections.

Explore, learn, and save some money all at once. We think you’ll find this a very rewarding experience and we look forward to welcoming you to the club!

WINE CLUB SELECTIONS OCTOBER 2011

RED

  Naudin-Ferrand Bourgogne Passetoutgrains Burgundy France 2009 $13.99

This attractive red, composed of equal portions Pinot Noir and Gamay, offers a delicate fragrance of tart cherry and a hint of earth, a supple, mildly spicy palate suffused with vivid berry and cherry flavors, and a persistent finish emphasizing crisp red fruit and subtle minerality. Light to medium in body, it derives its charm primarily from the purity of its fruit, which is presented with a fresh acid balance and the signature hint of earth so characteristic of red Burgundy.

 Food Pairings

Roast poultry, pasta with sausage and greens, charcuterie, cold roast meat

   WHITE

St.-Cosme Little James Basket White Vin de Pays d’Oc France 2010 $13.99

We’ve long admired the wines of St.-Cosme, one of the southern Rhône Valley’s most dynamic estates, and the red version of this wine has been a perennial best buy for years. The recently created white appears to be on track to continue that success. An unusual blend of Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc, it features a beautifully aromatic nose filled with the scents of sweet, ripe fruit and fresh flowers, while on the palate the wine is clean and lively, with plenty of verve, deliciously ripe fruit, and a dry finish. The Sauvignon component adds lift and backbone to the generous, even opulent Viognier, a variety known for its rich, somewhat viscous texture and markedly floral aromatic profile.

 Food Pairing

Red snapper with Mediterranean seasoning, mussels with herbs and wine, Tandoori chicken
