Join us at Flight in downtown Athens as we sample new wines and new vintages from the Jorge Ordoñez Spanish portfolio. Beginning in the mid 1980’s, the dynamic Mr.Ordoñez set an entirely new precedent for Spanish wine by devoting tremendous energy to uncovering hidden gems among his country’s ancient vineyards and then encouraging winemakers to make the most of them through rigorous growing practices, careful vinification and ambitious aging regimens involving greater use of small oak barrels. In the intervening decades, Ordoñez has gone from strength to strength, pushing growers and winemakers to ever higher levels of quality and dramatically increasing the range of wines offered. In today’s market Spanish wine is second to none in terms of dollar value, a fact which can largely be attributed to the hard work and talent of the indefatigable Señor Ordoñez.

Our tasting will feature eight selections from the portfolio, including whites and reds. Some of these wines are brand new to the market, while others are new vintages of long established and much admired classics from regions such as Rioja and Ribera del Duero. The staff at Flight will provide an array of tasty appetizers to complement the wines, which will be poured in an informal, reception style tasting, and we’ll furnish notes and background information about the wines and producers.
